About the project

Our company, BHSOFT, had been using a WordPress-based website for years. As the company grew, the website struggled with slow loading speeds and poor user experience due to the increasing number of pages and larger data loads. Additionally, we had already adopted Odoo as our ERP system and wanted to integrate the website into Odoo for centralized management.


To address these challenges, we decided to migrate our website from WordPress to Odoo, ensuring better performance, seamless ERP integration, and improved SEO management.


The new website needed to be fully customized with around 50 pages, designed to align with the company’s branding and user experience goals. Since SEO played a critical role in traffic generation, the system required built-in SEO optimization tools to help the marketing team analyze and improve content on each page. Seamless integration with Odoo ERP was a key priority, allowing the website to sync with CRM, Sales, and Inventory modules for efficient business management. Additionally, as website data and operations expanded, a reliable backup solution was essential to ensure data security and quick recovery in case of any failures. 

During the migration from WordPress to Odoo, we faced several challenges:

  • URL Structure Changes: The migration altered page URLs, potentially impacting SEO and user access.
  • Lost SEO Meta Data & Schema Markup: WordPress stored SEO data separately, which wasn’t automatically migrated to Odoo.
  • Custom Design Implementation: Odoo’s website builder required custom snippets to match the design vision.

To overcome these challenges, our team implemented the following solutions:

Front-end Development & Customization

  • Custom Odoo QWeb Templates: We developed a fully customized website using Odoo QWeb, Bootstrap 5, and SCSS (SASS) to match the company’s branding.
  • Enhanced Interactivity: jQuery was used to create dynamic UI elements, while Owl JS was integrated for sliders and carousels.
  • Performance Optimization: Implemented Lazy Loading Images to reduce initial page load time and improve site speed.


SEO & URL Management

  • 301 Redirects for URL Changes: We utilized Odoo’s Website Redirect 301 feature to ensure all old URLs are correctly redirected to new ones, preserving SEO rankings and user accessibility.
  • Manual SEO Data Migration: Our team collaborated with the marketing team to extract SEO metadata from WordPress and manually input it into Odoo.


Back-end Development & System Integration

  • Odoo 18 & Python 3.x: Custom back-end modules were developed using Odoo ORM to integrate the website with ERP modules such as CRM, Sales, and Inventory.
  • PostgreSQL Database Optimization: Ensured efficient data storage and retrieval for faster backend operations.


Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment

  • Hosted on DigitalOcean: The website was deployed on Digital Ocean, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
  • Automated Backups Twice a Day: Configured Odoo to run automatic backups twice a day, ensuring data security and quick recovery in case of failures.
  • Google Tag Manager & GA4 Integration: Implemented Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for tracking user behavior and website performance.


Training & Handover

A two-week training program was conducted for the marketing team, ensuring they could effectively manage the website’s content, SEO, and analytics.
