About the project

The client, a Germany-based company in the urban mobility sector, operates a mobile application that provides bike rental and bike-sharing services through a fully automated platform. The app enables users to find, reserve, and unlock bikes directly from their smartphones using smart locking systems.

To enhance the application’s interface and expand its functionality, the client engaged BHSoft to take over front-end development for both Android and iOS platforms. The goal was to improve user experience, ensure reliable integration with multiple smart lock vendors, and support advanced booking and payment features.

The client sought to modernize the app with:

  • A redesigned, intuitive interface that aligns with modern mobile UI standards
  • Cross-platform compatibility improvements to ensure consistent behavior across Android and iOS
  • New feature implementations to support complex rental scenarios and enhance usability

Key user goals included simplifying the rental process, improving lock integration, and enabling flexible reservations and payments.

One of the main challenges was ensuring consistent functionality and UI behavior across both iOS and Android, particularly while working with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices and integrating third-party smart lock technologies. Cross-platform development required careful handling of compatibility nuances and testing scenarios.
